This Just In: Business is Booming
Call it fate, call it luck, call it karma. I believe that everything happens for a reason. Well this is a big twinkie! The past month has been, well, one of those months. One of those Good Months that drop from the sky every death of a pope, as they say in Italy.
Family: Lots of time spent with family, in whom I am well pleased. A graduated 6th grader and a graduated high schooler. Man! Life Changing Experiences. My adopted Italian by-way-of Bari mother stayed a weekend with us and cooked ’till we dropped: Panzerotti, Cavatelli and Foccaccia. Favorite words heard: Ritardato!; Non Gridare!; Bravo; OmyGosh!
Work: Has been absolutely ringing off the hook lately (who has a “hook” nowadays?), with lots of new additions to the portfolio. Included are:
Theme Park (Middle East) Concept
A series of B&W sketches to be worked into color finals over the coming days (watch for them!) They represent views throughout the park, celebrating ‘extreme sports’ — something I’ll never understand.
Feature Film storyboard
All told (thus far — I’m still working on it), there are 25 boards or panels representing the key reveal to the large complex you see here. Later this week I will begin to board what amounts to the final act of the film.
Theme Park (Southeast US) Concept
I hate to be so vague, but this series of 6 illustrations is for a potential project with significant educational value to the area. Projects in which I can visualize moments of obscure history are my favorite. The research and acquisition of knowledge really flips my cookie. I should have been an anthropologist.
Virtual Set Design
This quick set sketch remains the basis for a series of keyed fx shots for a major Utah-based leadership training company with whom master compositor/producer Al Williams from Native Digital FX and I are collaborating to complete some training videos. The actor will ultimately be seamlessly composited into the photorealistic set through the magic of computer wizardry. Vague, huh?
Each of the above samples represents only one image of a much larger series in each project, so I encourage you to visit my portfolio to see the entire series thus far. Stay tuned for even more coming in the next weeks. I am always interested in getting more help with technique and pushing my abilities beyond my “plateau of happiness”, so any suggestions are welcome.
