Another Photoshop Tutorial (of mine) Hits the Stands
Yeah, well sorry for the long absence (but then, is anyone really reading any of this?) It’s been a kwazy month or three to be sure. Ask me why and I’ll tell you.
In other news: I am pleased to announce the release of another 6-page Photoshop tutorial I wrote for the fabulous Advanced Photoshop Magazine, which as you know is arguably the best Photoshop idea mag out there, period, hands down. The artists and concepts put forth in the magazine really are inspirational, and I’m happy to be a part of it.
Apparently, Issue #32 is already in the stands in UK and Europe right now and will be out in the US soon. The title (supplied by the publisher) of my tutorial gives it the impression as having something to do with reflections. That’s the funny thing about titles. Alas, in my tutorial there are no reflections, other than the ones I give of my own work. The reasons for this are my own fault and not those of the publisher. Lemme ’spain…
To begin, the source photos for the illustration were my own, taken at Goblin Valley, UT whilst on a late winter family vacation in early March of this year when it was still very cold and icy everywhere. It was very hard to find any open water at all, as all the lakes and rivers were still somewhat frozen. Seemed my water reflection tutorial was all washed up!
But a deadline’s a deadline, so I did what I could.
Pressing on with what I had, I realized I had to start completely from scratch after already completing about half the tutorial in Photoshop CS2 when I found from the publisher they’d prefered it be a CS3 tutorial. With just one week before the deadline, I started completely over but had major glitches with my computer system and lost my ftp connection to their server. As a result I stressed considerably over whether I’d be able to complete it on time (and yet ever remaining the gentleman toward my family and friends…).
Aye, ’twas a mighty long night to complete the thing. But get it in I did, and now it’s yours to enjoy for a very reasonable price, indeed. Pick one up at your local B&N or Borders. Pick up five of ‘em for your Aunt Jenny.

Hello John,
I hope I will get the magazine with your article in it verry soon. Looking forward to it. I read in Advanced Photoshop that they have been going for a while like you said they are already at issue 32. Do you know if they going to release the same information given in the english items as in the other countries ( The Netherlands / Holland )? So looking forward to your new article I did the first one and I was just amazed how creative it was and still is. And as least thanks for mailing me back, things like that making me give a feeling I am not replying for nothing like I had at serveral blogs. Keep up the good work.
Thomas.
